ADOPT
A SHEEP AT SLEEP COUNTRY CANADA
AND
SUPPORT CHILDREN’S MIRACLE NETWORK
All
funds raised in Ontario to go to local hospital charities

Toronto,
ON – March 9, 2006 – Sleep
Country Canada today launched its annual Adopt-a-Sheep fundraising
effort in support of Children’s Miracle Network. Visitors
to any Sleep Country store across Canada can ‘adopt’ an adorable,
plush Serta Counting Sheep plush toy for a minimum contribution
of 10 dollars. All funds raised between March 9 and April
25, 2006 at Sleep Country Canada’s stores across Ontario will
support SickKids Foundation, McMaster Children’s Hospital,
Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario and CHEO.
“One of Sleep Country
Canada’s top priorities is to give back to the communities
in which we operate,” said Christine Magee, president, Sleep
Country Canada. “We love the Adopt-a-Sheep program because
it helps kids. Not only because any child (or child at heart)
would love the plush sheep, but also because 100 per cent
of donations go directly to Children’s Miracle Network to
distribute to children’s hospitals.”
Last year the Adopt-a-Sheep
campaign raised $110,000 for local children’s hospitals through
Children’s Miracle Network – this year’s goal is to raise
more than $130,000 through the sale of 13,000 Serta Counting
Sheep.
“Children’s Miracle
Network helped fund care for more than two million Canadian
children last year,” said Alison Bloetjes, director of corporate
development for Children’s Miracle Network. “With the help
of organizations such as Sleep Country Canada, we can surpass
our fundraising goals and have an even greater impact on the
children in our own communities.”
Sleep Country will
promote the program through in-store displays, website reports
and radio advertising. Canadians can visit any of Sleep Country’s
111 locations to make their donation and take home their new
sheep.
