Argyle Communications honoured for Toronto’s best PR campaign of the year

2009 crisis communications program for U.S. peanut industry earns top award

TORONTO, April 29, 2010 – The Canadian Public Relations Society (Toronto) has honoured Argyle Communications with its top honour: the “Best PR Campaign of the Year.” Argyle earned the award for its leadership in crisis and issues management for the U.S. peanut industry following the North American-wide recall of peanut butter in 2009. The award was one of seven won by Argyle at a gala ceremony in Toronto last night.

“The Canadian Public Relations Society is committed to the highest standards in public relations, and to earn acclaim for the best campaign by professionals in Canada’s largest market is a huge honour for the Argyle team,” said Daniel Tisch, President of Argyle Communications. “We share this award with our client, the American Peanut Council, which emerged stronger from last year’s crisis thanks to its deep commitment to public relations in the public interest.”

Another Argyle campaign, a pro bono public affairs campaign to achieve fairness for girls’ hockey in Toronto, was also one of five gold-level finalists for the best campaign of the year. The Toronto-based firm also earned silver awards for media relations programs conducted for Nestle, Cetaphil and the Peanut Bureau of Canada, and a bronze for the launch of Weston Bakeries’ new Patak brand of naan bread.

It has been an outstanding year for Argyle Communications, which also recently earned five awards from the International Association of Business Communicators, including the international Gold Quill Award of Excellence in Crisis and Issues Management for the 2009 peanut crisis.
