How it works
hook™ uses VoIP and a standard cordless phone. The plan includes free features – call waiting, caller ID and voicemail. Consumers pay a one-time fee of $150 and in return, receive a hook™ telephone adapter and for a limited time only, an iPod nano as a bonus. For signing up two friends, subscribers earn $100 in rewards and one year of free service. For every additional referral, subscribers will earn one year of free service and $50 in rewards from top retailers. For those who do not bring in new subscribers, hook™ remains an inexpensive home-phone option, with a low $10 per month service fee.

After "hooking" friends, users earn hook™ Rewards, which are redeemable for consumer products or gift cards from major retailers including Apple, Roots, Home Depot, Gap, Future Shop, The Bay, HomeSense, Sony Style, and Marriott Hotels & Resorts.
