Great Skin Makes the Grade with Cetaphil® Acne Principles™
Simple 3-step system is clinically proven to treat acne
JULY 30 2008, TORONTO, ON – For more than 60 years, Canadians have counted on Cetaphil® cleansers and moisturizers for their healthy skin regime. Now, to help those who suffer mild to moderate breakouts – and just in time for back-to-school – Cetaphil has launched Acne Principles™, a 3-step system clinically proven to gently and effectively treat acne and help heal skin.
Designed in consultation with Canadian dermatologists, each Acne Principles kit includes: a gentle, non-comedogenic cleanser; a water-based 5% benzoyl peroxide gel that contains the highest level of benzoyl peroxide you can buy without a prescription; and a non-comedogenic, non-greasy, fragrance-free lotion that won’t clog pores. The lotion also enhances the benefits of the acne fighting gel, leaving skin soft and smooth.
“There is no quick fix to treating acne – you need to pick a regime and stick with it,” says Dr. Paul Cohen, a leading Toronto dermatologist. “To manage mild to moderate breakouts I advise my patients to follow a regular routine of gently cleansing their skin, then applying a product that kills the bacteria that causes acne, and finally, using a light, hydrating lotion. The Acne Principles system follows these three steps.”
Available in the skin care section at drug stores, pharmacies and department stores across Canada, Cetaphil Acne Principles retails for $45.00 per treatment package. The application of the 3-step system will last four-to-six weeks if used twice a day, as directed.
The ABCs of back-to-school skin care
Following an effective skin care regime is critical – but there are other tips that can help manage problem skin, including:
Gentle washing helps, but do not scrub! Scrubbing may break the skin and lead to break outs.
Girls should use oil-free, non-comedogenic make-up. Don't clog those pores!
Don't pick at blemishes. Squeezing pimples won't clear your face any faster - in fact, it may spread the problem deeper into your skin.
Keep a log of your progress and talk to your doctor if improvement is not apparent in three to four weeks.
“At Cetaphil, we want to help everyone put their best face forward,” says Antonella Fiedler, OTC Business Unit Manager, Cetaphil. “In fact, as part of the introduction of Acne Principles, we have created ShowYourRealFace.com, an interactive website designed to encourage individuality and self-expression while celebrating youth. The site features biographies, videos and blogs of inspirational youth who aren’t letting mild acne hide their incredible achievements.”
