Argyle president to represent Canada in Global Alliance for PR and Communications Management
TORONTO, November 11, 2008 –Argyle Communications president Daniel Tisch has been named Canada’s representative on the executive board of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communications Management, the umbrella association linking PR professional associations around the world.
Tisch was nominated for the position by the Canadian Public Relations Society and elected at the Global Alliance’s annual meeting. He will attend his first board meeting at the Global Alliance’s new secretariat in Lugano, Switzerland, on Friday November 14.
“In a global society, the role of public relations is more important than ever — and it’s essential for our profession to have a unified global voice,” Tisch said. “I am excited to join an international team working to share standards and best practices, foster the growth of PR associations around the world, and advocate for the value of public relations everywhere.”
The mission of the Global Alliance is to enhance the public relations profession and its professionals around the world in the following ways:
- unifying the profession by linking all national public relations and communication management associations as well as regional, specialty and international associations.
- providing a framework for the discussion and consensus based definition of professional standards and to share resources for the benefit of the professional community
- leveraging the work of associations and institutes for the benefit and growth of member associations and institutes and their members.
- becoming the authoritative global voice on public relations matters and to work in the public interest for the benefit of the profession.
Tisch has been involved in many international activities, including having served as senior policy advisor to a former Canadian minister of foreign affairs. He will build on the work of Jean Valin, a former president of the Canadian Public Relations Society, who is a founder and past chairman of the Global Alliance.
