Argyle Communications wins top international award
for research-based communications
Leading independent PR firm earns 11 awards from industry peers
TORONTO, June 11, 2009 – Argyle Communications is celebrating this week as the Canadian firm received one of the world’s highest awards for research-driven public relations: the Jake Wittmer Research Award from the San Francisco-based International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). The honour – selected from among more than 1,000 entries in the IABC’s Gold Quill Awards – caps a year in which Argyle earned 11 awards from its peers in the IABC and the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS).
Argyle’s representatives accepted major awards at two events this week: the IABC annual conference in San Francisco and the CRPS national conference in Vancouver.
“It’s exciting to win these 11 prestigious awards, because this shows that Argyle Communications is on the cutting edge in the work we do for our clients, and in the acclaim we earn from our peers,” said Daniel Tisch, President of Argyle Communications. “Great research is the foundation of great communications, and to be judged as the world’s best in this category is a particularly great honour for the Argyle team.”

Argyle earned the Jake Wittmer Research Award for a campaign for the American Peanut Council. Armed with a research-based understanding of peanuts and peanut butter consumption trends among Canadians, Argyle’s holiday campaign goal was to increase “usage occasions” for peanuts and peanut butter. The campaign, Edible Holiday Treats, quadrupled its media relations objective.
The Jake Wittmer Award was established by the IABC Research Foundation, the research and development arm of IABC, to recognize outstanding worldwide research commissioned or developed by an organizational communicator. Jake Wittmer was an IABC chairman and a founder of the organization. He believed that research is inherent to the communication process.
